deuce turns 2

well i can't believe i'm saying it but deuce turned two! i know it's been said a million times but man time flies. our little man is growing up so fast and learning so much everyday! he talks like crazy (of course only stuff mommy n daddy can understand) and is all boy (he loves to be outside in the puddles and loves to restle with daddy). we decided to wait for his bday party until nana got here so on his actual bday we took him to the mcdonalds where he loves to run and play and sometimes eat!

taking a moment for a quick refreshment
he stops in ocassionally for a frie or two
then he's off to the races agian
this time daddy convinced him to actually climb in the tunnels
1st level stop to peek out
finally at the top!
and here comes down the slide....
and here comes daddy!

the following sunday we had a little party for him (from 11-1 so we were sure not to miss football). it was pretty much an adult party since we don't know too many kiddos deuce's age. it turned out great but deuce showed us that he was def a 2yr old and fussed about pretty much everything and the cake was a def no go!

deuce n nana playing while waiting for lunch

the guys outside grilling the burgers with dave
enjoying his fruit after lunch "birthday style"....he loves to put on sunglasses
like i mentioned before...he wasn't very happy about the birthday cake....really he just wanted to play
he got lots of great toys and a great start to his train collection....this his barn and farm animals from callie (the little girl i nanny for)
unwrapping his train table
everyone playing with the train table...i would say it was a success!

all in all i would say his birthday and party were a lot of fun and we look forward to another year full of learning and discovering!

halloween

this years halloween festivities kicked off with a little carnival at camp johnson (where dave is stationed). they had all kind of fun things for the kiddos. each little shop had their own tent for the kids to walk through and they had face and pumpkin painting as well.

when i got there daddy n deuce were playing on the swing waiting for me
then we tried to get deuce to pick out a pumpkin but he just wanted to run around the "patch"

deuce was also very curious about the gaurd (wouldn't be a military function without one)

so here is where all the festivities were taking place.......

and here is where deuce wanted to be!

in the end he decided the slide was the best!

the following saturday was halloween. we didn't dress deuce up again this year for several reasons.... one being he can't even say trick o treat (and i sure as heck wasn't going to ask for him)...second he's kind of opinionated and wanted nothing to do with putting a costume on! i figured it wasn't really worth the fight. we still celebrated the day and all the festivites

the mall had some "spooky" reptiles that we went and cheked out

then after nap we carved the pumpkin...deuce wasn't very interested

daddy hard at work

deuce still not interested...see what i mean about opinionated!

mommy lighting the pumpkin

i think this is the first time he actually touched it

dave handing out candy to the neighbors

deuce watching the trick o treaters...taking notes for next year

kiss for his mummy

this is where deuce spent most of his time...

until he found the candy bowl....and this is where he spent the rest of the time until we ran out of candy!

well he had a great time and i think deuce is ready for next year!
luv mel dave n deuce!

flashback

ok so i know the pics are a little old but i promised i would post them...so when we traveled home in june/early july deuce was able to spend some time with grandma jeanette and grandpa henke and i'm finally getting around to posting the pics. in jeanette's defense she mailed them to me a long time ago i just nevered took them to get scanned in and put on a disc (since we don't have a scanner). anyway, from what i was told he had a blast and loved being outside (shocker). when grandma jeanette sent the pics she sent them with nice little descriptions of what was going on so i will simply copy those.

waving hi to the cows!

on the swing with grandpa watching the cows

checking out the cows in the pasture on a golf cart ride with champ

favorite toy at grandma and grandpa's house

checking out for the first time grandma n grandpa's chickens

cleaning his hands....in his words "sticky"

much rather use hands than shovel to fill bucket

rocks...very interesting...loved them!

so i'm pretty sure he had a great time and will love getting to go back over and over again! thanks for all the fun grandma jeanette and grandpa henke!
luv mel, dave n deuce!

more fun with nana

so on our travels back from tulsa we grabbed nana who flew into the same airport we did and she was able to stay and visit with us for a week. i can't really put into words how much deuce loves spending time with nana. but here are the top four...

1. she buys more of whatever he is interested in for the month...this month CARS (notice the new lightning and king cars)

2. she always finds cool new ways to do things...like brush ur teeth (yes he is sitting in the sink)

3. she takes u for walks through the neighborhood to see things like the construction, playground (they went for a walk like every day)

4. most importantly she brings a video of popo, pee pee (peaches) and sal sal (sally dennis' dog)
this was his favorite thing to do the whole time she was here. he would wave to popo and call pee pee and sal sal all the time.

on a side note i finished my first half marathon (marine corps half marathon) this past wknd. it was challenging yet rewarding. it took me 2hrs and 10mins. not the best time but i'll blame it on the rain and the mud that i had to run through for the first 3 miles and the last 2miles.

here i am crossing the finish line

family photo....deuce just wanted to go play in the mud puddles!
well that's all for now, stay tuned for pics from grandma and grandpa henke's...i got those pics in the mail.
luv mel, dave n deuce!
